This week, I’d like to explore something we so often forget—kindness.
Not the kind we show to others.
The kind we show to ourselves.
But when it comes to ourselves? The tone shifts.
The kindness fades.
The expectations rise.

Pause for a moment and take a slow breath.
Feel the inhale fill your lungs, and let the exhale soften something within you.
Why is it so much easier to be kind to others than to ourselves?
Why do we show up with compassion for everyone else but hold ourselves to impossible standards?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot this week—especially as I move through my nervous system practitioner training, working through the practicals on a daily basis while juggling many hats. It’s easy to extend care to others, to recognise when they need rest or encouragement. But turning that same kindness inward? That’s where it gets tricky.
How often do we dismiss our own struggles?
Push through exhaustion?
Speak to ourselves in ways we’d never dream of speaking to a friend?
Imagine for a moment you are sitting with someone you love.
They’re struggling, feeling overwhelmed, speaking harshly about themselves.
What would you say?
How would you hold space for them?
Now, what if you offered yourself that same kindness?
You are not weak for needing care.
You are not failing because you feel tired or lost.
You are human.
Take a moment to reflect:
What might change if you treated yourself with the same patience you offer others?
Where have you been hard on yourself lately?
What would it feel like to soften, even just a little?
For many of us, self-kindness can feel unfamiliar, even uncomfortable.
But you deserve the same compassion you give so freely to the world.
And in case no one has reminded you lately…
YOU ARE ENOUGH
For the days when storms arise,
And shadows fall across your skies,
Pause, breathe—just take it slow,
Let kindness in; let judgement go.You’re not the weight you bear,
Nor every doubt or past despair.
You’re the light that softly glows,
The love that roots, the strength that grows. You don’t need to chase or strive,
To prove your worth—you are alive.
And that alone is more than grand,
So hold yourself with gentle hands. On weary days, when all feels rough,
Please know, my friend—you are enough.
Let these words settle where they need to.
Close your eyes for a moment.
Imagine offering yourself the kindness you give to those you love.
What does that feel like?
Let it sit with you, even if just for a moment.
This week, when self-criticism creeps in, I invite you to pause and ask:
“Would I say this to someone I love?”
If not, then maybe—just maybe—there’s space to speak to yourself differently.
Pause again, and take a deep breath.
What would it feel like to stand in kindness with yourself today?
I’m holding space for you.

A wonderful reminder, thank you! I often wonder why I find it so much easier to be hard on myself instead of being kind. While it is so natural and easy to be kind to others. Your words resonated with me a lot, especially "You are not weak for needing care. You are not failing because you feel tired or lost. You are human." Thank you! 💖
What beautiful heartfelt words. Thank you for the lovely poem 🌱
