ℱ𝓇𝓸𝓂 𝓂𝓎 𝒽𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝓉𝑜 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈... 🫶💌☕
This week, I’ve found myself reflecting on something many of us struggle with—setting goals. Those big dreams and hopes that light us up at first, but can quickly become overwhelming, leaving us feeling weighed down.
I completely understand. That feeling of overwhelm can sneak in, and suddenly, that big goal feels like a mountain too steep to climb.
Right now, I’m feeling this too. Tonight, I start my training with the Institute of Applied Somatics to become a certified nervous system regulation practitioner. It’s a year-long journey, beginning with an inaugral three-hour Zoom call, and I’m equal parts excited and nervous.
This wasn’t in my plans, but when it appeared before Christmas, it just felt right—a chance to deepen my work in self-regulation and support others in a meaningful way.
I trust I can do this, but I also know I need to move with care. The last thing I want is to push myself too far and end up my own guinea pig. Growth isn’t about pushing past limits—it’s about honouring them.
One thing I keep reminding myself: regulation isn’t just something we teach—it’s something we embody.
⏸️ Let’s pause for a moment…
Close your eyes, if you can.
Take a deep breath in,
and let it out slowly.
Allow your body to relax,
feeling grounded in the present moment.
On that note, I want to share something that’s helped me over the past year—taking things one small step at a time.
Instead of focusing on a towering goal, it’s about breaking it down into smaller, manageable steps. When we set tiny, realistic milestones, it’s easier to keep going—even when life throws us curveballs.
⛰️ Imagine standing at the foot of a mountain,
looking up at the peak.
Now, see yourself breaking that mountain down
into smaller, easier steps—
one step at a time.
Feel the relief that comes
with knowing you don’t have to climb it all at once.
And here’s how that plays out in real life: celebrating the little wins, the small achievements.
At first, they might feel insignificant. But when we take a moment to appreciate every step forward, we start to see something beautiful—progress.
And that’s where the healing happens.
✍️ Reflect for a moment
on the small victories you've experienced this week.
Maybe it was simply showing up for yourself,
taking a breath,
or being gentle with your needs.
Acknowledge those moments of progress,
however small they may feel.
You deserve to feel proud of every step.
💌 I wrote this poem as a gentle reminder of your worth—a soft note to tuck away for the tough days.
SMALL STEPS
One step, then another,
No need to rush or run.
The journey isn’t measured
By how quickly it’s done. Each breath a soft reminder,
Each step a gentle choice.
No need to climb the mountain
When you hear your heart’s voice.Pause, breathe, and notice—
Your path is yours to own.
No race, no rush—just softness,
A place to call your own.
Let these words sink in. You are worthy of moving at your own pace. You deserve rest along the way.
I know how easy it is to feel discouraged, especially on days when progress feels slow or uncertain. But please remember—every small step forward is a victory. Even when it doesn’t feel like enough, you’re doing better than you think.
✨ Take a moment to reflect on your journey ✨
See each step you’ve taken as a soft stone, carefully placed in your path.
Each step—each small action—
builds the way forward.
I know some days feel like you’re just treading water—and that’s okay. Simply getting through a tough moment is a victory in itself.
There’s no shame in feeling stuck or frustrated. It doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re human. Even when it feels like nothing is moving, you’re still learning, adjusting, and growing in ways you may not see yet.
Growth isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes, the path winds. That’s okay. Every step, even the small ones, still counts.
A few gentle reminders:
Break big goals into smaller, manageable steps.
Celebrate the little victories—they matter.
Be kind to yourself when things don’t go as planned.
This week, I invite you to pause and acknowledge your progress. No matter how small, it deserves to be seen.
You are worthy of that acknowledgment. Your journey matters. And you are not alone.

Great post with such thoughtful advice. I once did a 50k ultra. Mostly walking in the end. I was in a lot of pain by the end but it very much was one small step at a time, breaking it down into small sections.
Good luck with your course!
Aw Dana love your poem and we'll done on choosing to take on another adventure. I hope you really enjoy it xx 😘
