I read recently that we learn to co-regulate with our caregivers before we learn to self regulate (from them) and if your caregivers aren't able to self regulate, that's when things go 'wrong'. That makes so much sense to me...neither of my parents were able to self regulate (I've no blame for them) and it helps me to have self compassion on my own journey towards self regulation. It's a long road, but baby steps forwards 🙂 Karen
